At Wiess’s hand, Meridith’s history as a victim of child sexual abuse is rendered harrowing but never unreadable. This story managed to infuriate me even though I felt that the plot was obvious and contrived. Not the subject matter, though. Andy is 19 and is paralyzed since the night he graduated High School.

Such a pretty girl grabbed my attention from the first page and kept it until the very end. A little pricey for being so short–I wish it was longer–but I loved the way things were described and the twist at the very end. Because of this one major issue that I had with the story, I felt like I didn’t connect with Meredith as well or the story.
Now that he’s out, even on parole, she abhors the idea of seeing him, doesn’t believe for a second his claims of reformation, and is determined no one else will ever suffer at his hands the way she did again.

The other issue I have is that this book was about rape. Today her time has run out. Finally, the God factor. Books that make me step outside of my normal life. To save herself, Meredith takes a Virgin Mary statue and hits her father with it. Her father went to jail three years ago for sexually abusing her and several other children in town. Although this book deals with a dark and demented issue, its style, readability, and theme of justice made it impossible for me to put down. That number was considered more of a guesstimate than solid fact, as this type of heinous crime isn’t always reported, and so some molesters destroy dozens of lives before they’re caught.
