Trivia About Jeneration X: As someone who also was laid off in the dot com jensration burst, and changed careers as a result, I fully support her writing career, and will continue to do so. Plus, she made me think about swimsuits with skirts in an entirely different way — I had to call and order a new suit immediately. I seriously think Jen lost her way. She talks a lot about having more opportunity than before, and because she’s had these opportunities she can move from the survival mode that she wrote about in Bitter is the New Black and Bright Lights Big Ass, to really taking charge of her life.

The problem with this book? At least she knows her shortcomings. This is Jen Lancaster’s fifth memoir.

I laughed out loud through this book more than I have at any of her others, but as someone in her twenties, some of the “life lessons” are still a little out jeneratioh my reach.

Dicker-Deutsch Dicker-Deutsch rated it liked it. She’s back again with a new memoir that is possibly one of her funniest.

What was different for me was that instead of reading this book, I listened to the audio version — narrated by the author herself. But it’s definitely on the top of my list.

I laughed out loud so many times – due to a combination of Jen’s hilarious self-deprecating humor and the fact that I personally related to MANY of the chapters, which means I was really laughing at myself. However, I did not find this book funny. Now she is willing to do undignified things and laugh at them.

Being a collection of humorous stories, it felt more like a collection of essays rather than a story with continuity. Not only did the book feel like a tired retread, but I was fed-fucking-up with hearing how “entitled” my generation is. Gone are her laugh-out-loud-so-funny-I-snorted writings and I’m left extremely underwhelmed. Another Piece of My Heart. But along with that she has a unique way of telling a story.

They never fail to make me laugh and I love seeing that someone else has crazy stuff happen to them and not just me.
