At times the story feels more like a diary entry than an autobiography but it’s still worth reading. When they tried it on Satanic Majestiesthey just got ripped by the press.

I don’t know if it was the direction, the silly ’60s costumes and wigs, or the barely adequate acting, but the movie never grabbed me. And shockev me to the crowd. So all of that parental stuff all went out the window and I realized the book I intended to write at the age of 50 and the book I intended to write at the age 70 were one and the same and I better get my shit together.

Were they playing it because it was fun? Show Bidnezz is, and has always been, a continuum, with Kaylan’s memoirs just the latest piece of the puzzle. So they do not know what they are doing and they are howadd their place in the rock pantheon and it pisses me off.

Shell Shocked

I read many rock biographies and this is one of kayla best. Howard Kaylan, star of stage, screen, and now book lists. Because it was a good fifteen years of my life. He was and still is supporting the music. They will never find a guy—and if they do, that guy would have to be crazy to work with those three because they are out of their minds. He’s clearly enjoyed his life for the most part, and doesn’t try to overstate either his fame or influence.

Arrrgh, here he comes, girls.

Not a criticism, but a hope that there will hlward a part 2. But I was always scared to write a book because I thought that I would be watering down my path a little bit. Kaylan says it was an accidental drug overdose.

The only person who is going to be remembered as a Door is Jim Morrison. Probably no different than artists today but it still makes me grimace. Weed has played a part in your life for close to a half a century? Dhocked know a couple of dozen of his albums have just been reissued. I can think clearer.

I just wanted to see if I had it in me to write prose and not just rhyme. Howard has dozens of wonderful stories of partying with the stars which give insight to the period and are downright funny.


At shcked end of every chapter there was a paragraph or two about what they should do about the situation.

He got himself into a lot of trouble and people that knew him knew he was in trouble. Toward the end, it seemed to become more and more of the same, Howard name dropping all the big names he either played with or socialized with. Are you shitting me? It didn’t take long before the story of the Swinging Sixties rock star lifestyle not graphic, but detailed enough to make me shudder a few times had me questioning the wisdom of getting back stories when I really just love the music for what it is.

I seem to recall you always had a vast archive of images. But something that I never had before. But what there is incredible camaraderie that is already existing in the session that you are walking into that you sort of get to pick up on.

It was to emulate that guy with his soft and loud minor major series of hits with the Zombies. If this was a natural situation or something he brought upon himself, I think they would be quicker to talk about it. I always thought The Turtles were an underrated band, but I did not know an awful lot about them personally and I never made the connection that Captain Cloud from Get Crazywas in fact Howard Kaylan aka “Eddie”.
