Fans of Jane AustenTessa Dare, and Theresa Romain will delight in the entertaining story of a woman seeking security for her family but finding love where and when she least expected it.

I just love this book SO much! Her books are a tonic, and I plan on saving them and bringing them out when I’m in high dudgeon. She informs, but never preaches; this is the type of historical fiction I ueyer the very best. Regency Science and Invention: Okay, how, HOW have I not read this until now?

Enlisting the help of Vernon Alverstoke,she sets in motion a chain of events that have unforeseen consequences for more than one person in their close family circle.

Merriville family show up. This is my first Georgette Heyer book, though I’ve seen them around.

Anyway, this story was more about watching Alverstoke become a pillar on which Frederica leaned than a romance. Who is the scandalous young beauty mentioned on the s cover, you ask? I heher need to give them all a hug. But the best part of that scene is Frederica completely cracking up at her own joke, after the random people leave and bursts out laughing saying “It’s like Puss in Boots! And as I started Frederica that is exactly what I felt like doing: Both characters are likable and good-hearted, but they clearly have their faults, too.

Countless Heyer fans kept recommending it to me and telling me it was one of the best, and the blurb totally sounded like something I would enjoy.
