The speech was all wooden and slow, like it was written by a 6 year old.
I’ve always liked Elminster even if he is the ultimate Gary-Stu. Sometimes, I literally write down names and who they are so I can understand. Leaving me without any desire to read the next book. One who’s mysterious and powerful, who pops in when he’s needed. I love it I enjoyed this book. The emlinster was great but I felt that some parts were quickly rushed through while others were given a lot of time.
However, the real power is held by a group of “magelords” who elminzter the pupeteers to the king. I enjoyed this book. Based upon other books from them I generally enjoy the story. Get it free with day trial. Other books in the series.
The Temptation of Elminster
When a dragon-riding magelord sweeps down upon him, though, the boy is thrust into a world of harsh realities, corrupt rulers, and evil sorcerers.
Then El was turned into a woman and I kind of lost it.
A definitive piece of Forgotten Realms literature, and the wondrous beginnings of one of the greatest characters the realms have ever produced. Books by Ed Greenwood. There were a few good moments in the book, but overall Ed green one has done much better with some of his other writings. May 10, Michael rated it really liked it. Seriously, it is very, very clear that Elminster has been modelled on Gandalf.
My sister bought me the Forgotten Realms boxed for my 15th birthday when I visited her in college in Boston. The first book did not compel me enough to immediately trudge onward in this journey. The second volume of Elminster’s saga sits on my shelf with an unbroken spine. Elminster, Book 5 Written by: This was an interesting, if somewhat disjointedly and el,inster written, edited eelminster thought out book.
His voice was perfect like he was meant to Narrate this story. They play a practical joke on one of the nobles which involves knocking him out and putting him in some kind of lewd sexual posistion to be discovered and humiliated latter on.
Elminster: The Making of a Mage by Ed Greenwood
It would not have been hard to construct the character and tell the story. At first I really thought that Greenwood really just liked to make his minor role characters very detailed before he left them behind, lost hundreds of pages behind. It was a continuation of my early interest in role playing games and I loved the strategy, math, and fantasy of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition. Not sure if it was the writing or the person reading it, but who talks like that?!
I looked at all the stories and trilogies and remembered Elminster being mentioned, in the Drizzt books, every once in a while. He would treat his subjects well and despite the land being ruled by a monarchy, people enjoyed freedom particularly merchants. Why or why not?
In these ancient days, Elminster is but a shepherd boy, dreaming of adventure and heroics. Some have critised other authors for being too idealistic in the worlds, however not much criticism has been levelled against Dungeons and Dragons products for similar things. It’s really why I went to this series after Erevis Cale.

The discussion was either go to a show sometime in elninster future or get this at a little shop near the massive Church of Christian Scientist. However, I do remember that he is transformed into a woman It could be a lot better and the author admits as much: There he dwelt for 12 summers and more, studying with many mighty mages, learning to feel magic and know how it could be bent and directed to his will It failed all my expectations.
I kind of even enjoyed some of the parts when he is a thief. It allows us to finally wlminster how the events shaped a young kid to become we all came to know by many As one of the most famous and lovable characters to date on the Forgotten Realms universe sorry Drizzt. It felt like it was being read by Ben Stein, dry and bland.
