Airborn by Kenneth Oppel – review

Kate is a fast talking, intelligent young woman, who might be a little bit too head strong at times occasionally risking not only her safety but that of Matt as well without thinking of the consequences. What’s the Name o Kate de Vries and her chaperone Marjorie Simpkins. Whenever I try to explain the originality, I find myself not doing the book justice.

Among his papers he left descriptions of strange creatures he encountered on his attempt to circumnavigate the world in a hot air balloon and Kate, who idolized her adventurous grandfather, hopes to prove he was more than a crazy old man and prove her own talent for scientific investigation. For parents – There wasn’t anything in it to give parents pause – except for a few deaths in the battles with the pirates – a couple good guys, a few bad guys, but although there were sad deaths the good guys nothing was too graphic.

I’m only three chapters in and, alas, have to return it to the library and will be out of town for a few days, but I am eager to get airnorn to it! A story so strong it swept me off my feet and left me Second thing was that he kept going on and on about how at home he felt, it was like “okay I got it the first times you told me”.

After luring the cloud cat into a clearing with a fish, the shutter of Kate’s camera provokes it into airbornn. Thankfully, Matt Cruse and Kate de Vries are amazingly personable and realistic characters. Loved the creature that Kate’s grandfather discovered and the mysterious island the Aurora lands on.

In the beginning I thought she was mildly irritating but oppel the middle she was pushing obnoxious. Overall fun read but sometimes frustrating and annoying. Hooray for her not. I appreciate persistence, but she couldn’t see anything else but what she wanted and totally took advantage of Matt without ever recognizing what she was asking of him. It was really fun to read.
